Ipswich CYM interns complete their training
The four young people working as gap year students with CYM have nearly completed their training and will mostly be moving onto pastures new.
Danny is preparing to study Graphic Design at University Campus Suffolk, starting in September. Kymmene is also heading to UCS, to study Early Childhood Studies. Jonny is staying on to the Formation Level 2 gap year. Josh is still thinking about next year and might stay with CYM
Here are their comments on the year:
"Each of us has had an absolutely fantastic year experiencing each area of the work that CYM offers"
“Training has been brilliant in helping us to develop our knowledge of youth work principles and broaden our understanding of theology. We've also been able to develop our leadership skills, learn a lot about ourselves and really grow as individuals - planning CUs, getting involved in holiday clubs and Sizewell weekends.”
“These projects have been invaluable in developing our teamwork, by challenging and maturing us in big ways. We're all going to miss African Adventure and the fun times we have around the campfire, playing games, building shelters and bridges, and generally keeping the children entertained every minute of the day!”
“We're all very excited for what the future holds for each of us and we will definitely be making regular visits to the new interns! Thank you for all of your support and prayers, and please do continue to pray for us as we go our separate ways.”
“We'll be returning at every possible opportunity.”
Young People’s training 2011/12
CYM still have some places left on their Gap Year programme for the next academic year and would love to hear from you if you are interested in taking a year out to serve God. They would also like to hear if you are interested in any other aspect of the training on offer.
Level 1 Gap Year
The level one gap year is for anyone thinking about taking a year out to learn more about children's work and youth ministry, about themselves and about God. You will have the opportunity to get involved with all aspects of CYM's work, be trained practically and theologically and grow in your relationship with God.
Level 2 Gap Year
Due to popular demand a new level two gap year has been added. The year is for those who have either completed level one or have previous experience in children's and youth work ministry. It is an opportunity to specialise in an area of CYM's work and to think about future ministry.
Townwide training
Over the next year, CYM are hoping to introduce various options to help train and support local youthworkers in their ministry. This will include youthwork training days, specialist training including an introduction to Christian youthwork course, local support and prayer networks.
